The House of Leclerc Briant was founded in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc in Epernay. The house took its name from the union of Bertrand Leclerc, Lucien’s grandson, and Jacqueline Briant. One of their vineyards, La Croisette, is located right in the heart of Epernay Village.
Bertrand Leclerc was one of the first people in the Champagne industry to think about biodynamics. The winemaking philosophy of Leclerc Briant focuses on minimal interventions during the vinification process in order to highlight the terroir.
The house produces a range of different cuvées including vintages champagnes, non-vintage cuvée and special cuvée. The ageing takes at least nine months in oak barrels. The house sells 200,000 bottles annually and they export 65% of their production. The starting price for a bottle of Leclerc Briant Reserve Brut is around GBP 50.
