Domaine Robert Groffier is one of Burgundy’s most highly regarded family estates, celebrated for producing wines of remarkable finesse and depth from some of the Côte de Nuits’ most coveted vineyards. Robert Groffier led the domaine for decades, building its reputation for precision and elegance until his death in 2016. Today, his son Nicolas Groffier continues this legacy, combining deep respect for tradition with a meticulous, modern approach in both vineyard and cellar.
The domaine farms around 8 hectares across prestigious appellations including Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin — terroirs renowned for their complexity and expressive character. Sustainable viticulture is at the heart of their work, with careful attention to each parcel and rigorous hand-harvesting, followed by double sorting to ensure only the finest fruit is used.
Groffier is best known for its Pinot Noir, producing red Burgundies that balance purity of fruit with structure, perfume, and age-worthy refinement. The domaine’s Premier Cru bottlings, including the celebrated Chambolle-Musigny ‘Les Amoureuses’ and ‘Les Sentiers’, are particularly sought after for their silken texture and haunting aromatic detail, while wines from Morey-Saint-Denis offer power and intensity with the same signature elegance. Domaine Robert Groffier remains a benchmark producer, capturing the subtle beauty of Burgundy through wines that are both expressive in youth and exceptional with time in the cellar.
