Domaine Sylvie Esmonin, based in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, is a celebrated 7.8-hectare family estate that has been guided by Sylvie Esmonin’s visionary leadership since 1985. A pioneer in sustainable farming, Sylvie transitioned the estate to organic and biodynamic viticulture in 1990, strictly avoiding synthetic treatments to preserve the vitality of her old vines, many of which are over 60 years old.
The jewel of the estate sits nestled at the foot of the legendary Clos Saint-Jacques Premier Cru, of which she owns a prized 1.7-hectare slice.In the cellar, winemaking seamlessly marries deep tradition with structural finesse. Depending on the cuvée, Sylvie utilizes up to 70% whole-cluster fermentation in open wooden vats, followed by careful aging in French oak barrels—incorporating up to 75% new oak for her top Premier Crus.
The wines are handled via gentle gravity racking and are bottled completely unfined and unfiltered to retain their raw terroir definition. Spanning from regional Bourgogne Rouge and Côte de Nuits-Villages to village Gevrey-Chambertin, Vieilles Vignes, Volnay-Santenots, and her flagship Clos Saint-Jacques, the entire range is globally revered for its mineral tension, elegant structure, and vibrant, pure Pinot Noir character.
