Chichibu Distillery, located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, is a pioneering craft distillery founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, a respected figure in Japanese whisky. Despite its recent establishment, Chichibu has quickly gained global acclaim for producing high-quality single malts and limited releases, known for their depth, complexity, and balance. With a commitment to tradition and innovation, Chichibu uses small copper pot stills, wooden washbacks, and a mix of unique cask types, including mizunara oak, bourbon, and sherry casks, allowing for a diverse range of flavour profiles. The distillery’s expressions, such as Chichibu The First and Chichibu On the Way, showcase delicate yet rich notes of fruit, malt, spice, and subtle oak.
