Burghound 92-95

A perfumed and exceptionally pretty and spicy nose freely offers up its array of red currant, exotic tea, sandalwood and hoisin. There is terrific intensity to the tautly muscular, sappy and powerful big-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the impressively long, balanced and very much built-to-age finale. Patience again strongly advised. Excellent. [10/01/2022]

Vinous 96

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is very poised on the nose, quite intense although it is a slow-build, gradually adding another layer of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite elegant and pure with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. Great tension and quite sophisticated, this Aux Brûlées should age with style. [Neal Martin, 16/12/2021]

Producer Profile

The story of Méo Camuzet begins in
the early 20th century when Étienne Camuzet, a former mayor of Vosne-Romanée
acquired several vineyard parcels in the prestigious Côte De Nuit. Étienne’s
son-in-law, Jean Méo, subsequently joined the family business and the estate
became Méo Camuzet. Jean Méo extended the estate to esteemed vineyards in
Burgundy such as Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot and Échezeaux. In the 1980s, Jean
Méo’s son, Jean-Nicolas Méo, took over the reins of the domain.

Jean-Nicolas
brought a fresh perspective and a commitment to organic and biodynamic
practices. He implemented rigorous vineyard management techniques and modern
winemaking methods while respecting the heritage of traditional Burgundian
winemaking.

Domaine
Groffier is relatively small, and its production is limited. As a result, their
wines are highly sought after by collectors and wine enthusiasts around the
world, making them quite rare and sometimes difficult to acquire.
