The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Vergers Clos St. Marc 1er Cru has a higher-toned, slightly more tropical-scented bouquet. Passion fruit, pineapple and fresh lime come through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a rounded, quite concentrated opening. Slightly lower in acidity than its peers, weighty and perhaps more designed for earlier drinking than long-term cellaring. A touch of bitterness on the aftertaste – possibly some TCA here? Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2032
