Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 93
One of the most explosive wines in the range is the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes, a beautiful bottling that soars from the glass with scents of orange rind, sweet wild berries, licorice and soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, succulent and supple, it’s ample and enveloping, caressing the palate with its generous core of concentrated fruit and its exquisitely refined tannins.
Burghound 90-93
Here there is very good freshness to the cool and airy nose of essence of plum, earth, spice and a background application of wood. The lilting and lacy middle weight flavors possess a subtle underlying tension while the ever-so-slightly warm finish is shaped by very fine-grained tannins. This is an exercise in finesse as it is more refined than usual.
