Robert Parker 93
The 2018 Corton Les Marechaudes Grand Cru has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet red berries, dark chocolate, peonies and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular, it’s broad-shouldered and lively, concluding with a bright, nicely defined finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2050
A deft application of wood sets off the overtly spicy and ripe essence of red pinot fruit where additional breadth is present in the form of floral and earth nuances. There is excellent punch to the very well-detailed larger-scaled flavors that possess focused power on the solidly complex and sneaky long finish. This is perhaps a bit more refined than it usually is and a wine that should age well over the medium to longer term.
