EnquiryThe 2018 Thorevilos is incredibly elegant and nuanced. Graphite, crushed rocks, lavender, menthol, spice, dark cherry and bittersweet chocolate are all seamless in the glass. Over the last few years, the Thorevilos has really gained in finesse, as all these wines have. The 2018 is simply magnificent. This is the last vintage from the original Thorevilos vineyard, a site David Abreu and Ric Forman planted and farmed for thirty years.

Abreu Vineyards is a prestigious winery based in Napa
Valley, California, USA, founded by third-generation rancher David Abreu in
1986. Abreu is considered a visionary winemaker, once described by Robert
Parker as one of the “most influential wine personalities of the last 20
years”. His estate is renowned for producing some of the most sought-after and
critically-acclaimed wines in the world.
Abreu’s winemaking philosophy centres around the belief that exceptional wines
are born in the vineyards. With a meticulous focus on terroir, soils, and
sustainable farming practices, the estate carefully cultivates its vineyards to
produce exceptional fruit.
The early days of the estate saw David pioneering viticultural techniques new
to the region, that he would garner from research trips to Bordeaux. Now
working alongside Brad Grimes, Abreu produces a limited amount of wine each
year from his 40-hectare vineyards in Cappella, Las Posadas, Howell Mountain,
Madrona Ranch and Thorevilos sites, primarily focusing on Cabernet
Sauvignon-based blends.
These wines are highly regarded for their opulence, balance, and ability to age
gracefully over time. Abreu wines are coveted by collectors and wine
enthusiasts alike.
