Tasting Notes
Burghound 91
Soft wood influence surrounds the slightly more deeply pitched nose that somewhat grudgingly reveals aromas of violet, plum, earth and discreet spice wisps. There is better volume to the tautly muscular and stony flavors that possess focused power on the more complex and lingering finish. This very pretty effort is very Champans in character.

Light crimson. Sweet red cherries on the nose. Juicy, rather lightweight, seems expensive for what you get in the glass even with the elegance of the tannins. Not sure how this will age without a lot of stuffing. (JH)

The 2017 Volnay Les Champans 1er Cru has an exquisite bouquet with pure dark cherries, raspberry preserve and crushed stone aromas, very focused and classy, yet totally understated. The palate is very supple in the mouth, wonderful acidity, a little more corpulent than the Caillerets with a sense of lushness on the finish. I just love this Volnay.
