Tasting Notes
Burghound 89-92
Here too the toasty nose is firmly reduced. By contrast there is good freshness and verve to the very supple medium weight flavors that offer good if not special depth and persistence on the moderately firm finish. While it wouldn’t be accurate to describe this as dilute, it would be to say that it’s not dense. This is by no means a poor wine but it’s a disappointing Richebourg.
Vinous 95
The 2017 Richebourg Grand Cru comes from 0.6 hectares of vine in the lieu-dit of Le Véroilles and is matured in 90% new oak. There is a touch of reduction on the nose, although it dissipates with aeration in the glass to reveal ample blackberry and raspberry fruit, crushed stone and just a touch of black truffle. The medium-bodied palate displays fine tannin and impressive balance. Not as powerful as the 2015 that wowed back at the Burgfest tasting, but it fans out beautifully toward the finish. This is a Richebourg of great purity and grace.

Destemmed. Tank sample. Very flatteringly rich and heady. Really dense and dramatic. This wine positively soars. Doesn’t seem to be the produce of cellar but of vineyard. Well done!
