The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a showy, vanilla-y bouquet with overt scents of passion fruit, guava and orange blossom. There is something a little superficial here. The palate is rounded in the mouth, yielding a plump Corton-Charlemagne that feels very ripe, and then there is a jarring, bitter finish that feels ill-matched to the rest of the wine. Odd. Producer Profile

Patrick Javillier, the owner and winemaker took over the family estate in 1974 and has since established himself as one of Burgundy’s esteemed winemakers. Today, the domain owns 11 hectares on the Côte-De-Beaune, producing grand crus, premiers crus, and village wines. Some of the notable vineyards include Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, and Savigny-lès-Beaune, renowned for producing exceptional Chardonnay grapes. 
Patrick Javillier focuses on meticulous vineyard management, including organic and biodynamic practices to promote vine health. His Chardonnay wines are aged in oak barrels for 16-18 months, and the amount of new oak used in the barrels varies according to the terroir. 
It produces 60,000 bottles every year. Patrick Javillier is particularly renowned for its Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne, which can be found on the market for around £150.
