Tasting Notes

“Ramonet’s 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères reveals a classy and reserved bouquet of wet stones, lime zest, Meyer lemon and iodine, framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, layered and deep at the core, with lovely textural glossiness and detail underpinned by succulent acidity. The lieu-dit of Les Enseignères sits just below Bâtard-Montrachet, and this seems to have been a favored neighborhood in 2015, perhaps because the deeper soils retained sufficient water to preclude significant vine stress. Indeed, this is the domaine’s standout Villages-level wine in 2015.”

Pale, bright yellow. Sexy scents of white peach, hazelnut and spices, with a touch of youthful reduction. A spicy, nicely concentrated but rather unforthcoming midweight, a bit blocked by reduction but enlivened by adequate acidity. Showed more floral lift in the middle palate with aeration. Finishes dry and firm but smooth, in need of another year in the cellar.
