50-year-old vines. Dark ruby. Pale rim. Meaty, hugely rewarding nose. Definitely Tremblay style – masses of voluptuousness. The nose is wonderful but I wonder whether the palate isn’t a bit too rich and ripe for comfort? Very opulent.
Anticipated maturity: 2030-2045
Healthy dark red. Captivating lift to the aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, tobacco and rose petal. Wonderfully creamy, concentrated, energetic wine, utterly silky and seamless. Seductively sweet but not a bit heavy, offering excellent precision to its thick flavors of dark raspberry and spices. Finishes very long and suave, with substantial firm yet almost creamy tannins.

“Cécile Tremblay’s 2015 Echézeaux du Dessus Grand Cru is glorious and ranks as one of her greatest hits to date, soaring from the glass with a lavish bouquet of raspberries, black cherries, dark chocolate, spice, espresso roast and wood smoke, framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is broad and expansive, with a velvety chassis of tannin, immense depth at the core, and a long, dramatic finish. This is a striking Echézeaux which will turn heads in its youth, but which will reward bottle age with extraordinary complexity and texture.”
