Producer Profile

Pierre Péters is a renowned Champagne producer founded in 1919. It’s one of the few Champagne houses producing champagne exclusively using the grapes that they have grown themselves, rather than buying some from local producers. They specialize in Blanc de Blancs Champagne, focusing on the Chardonnay grape variety. One of their iconic cuvées is called the ‘cuvée de reserve’, a blend of more than 20 years of reserve wines. 
The house owns 19 hectares of Chardonnay vines in Mesnil-sur-Oger and its surroundings. They use sustainable farming, respecting the land, the environment, and nature. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks. 
Under the leadership of successive generations, including Rodolphe Péters, the estate has gained international acclaim for its exceptional quality and commitment to showcasing the unique terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Today, Pierre Péters Champagne is recognized as a benchmark for excellence in the Champagne industry.

The 2013 Brut Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons is outrageously beautiful. I remember tasting it as vin clair in March, 2014. Today, as a finished Champagne from bottle, the 2013 captures all of the intense ripeness and bright acidity that make this vintage so exceptional. A wine of cut and brilliance, the 2013 will thrill readers who enjoy Blanc de Blancs. Citrus, marzipan, slate, crushed rocks and floral notes pulse with tremendous energy. Readers will have to be patient with the 2013. It is a total knock-out. Wow! Dosage is 3.5-4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: April, 2020. [Antonio Galloni, 01/11/2020]
