Tasting Notes
Vinous 90.5
Good deep red-ruby. Vibrant aromas of blueberry, menthol and flowers. Juicy, concentrated and tactile, with a distinctly penetrating quality to the blueberry, licorice, fresh herb and mineral flavors. A bit lean and wound-up today in an Old World way, this nicely concentrated second wine needs time to soften in the bottle.

65% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark purple. Very sweet and rich and punchy. Just a bit green and sinewy on the end. Not quite a complete wine. The less successful grapes went into this I assume?
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2025

The 2010 Chapelle Ausone is a very elegant wine with rather tart acids, this second wine of Ausone is medium-bodied, has dark raspberry and blueberry fruit notes with some hints of wet stones. Pure, nicely textured, but rather backward, this wine needs further bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030. One of the other perfectionist, compulsive producers in St.-Emilion is Alain Vauthier, who is now capably assisted by his daughter.
