Tasting Notes
Vinous 94
The 2006 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée Nicole VV emerges from old vines in Les Chétillons, one of the most renowned lieu-dits in Mesnil. More of a wine than a Champagne, the VV possesses notable textural richness and gravitas, both of which build with a bit of time in the glass. This is a terrific choice for readers who enjoy Champagnes with the complexity that develops in bottle over time. (AG) Inner quote mark. Moncuit is one of those growers I never hear much about, and yet the wines are consistently outstanding and delicious. I tend to favor the entry-level wines, but only because they offer so much quality for the money, something that is increasingly hard to find in Champagne. The Delos Blanc de Blancs is one of the great values in Champagne. The wines are all done in tank, with full malolactic fermentation, and bottled with low dosage.
