The 2002 Brut Millesime shows good up-front richness in its dried apricots, dried pears, flowers and spices. This is a relatively supple, easygoing 2002 best suited to near-term drinking. This is lot # L43PX103290Q. [Antonio Galloni, 12/01/2011]

The 2002 Brut Millesime is drinking brilliantly, bursting with aromas of pear, yellow orchard fruit, citrus oil, peach, smoke and toasted bread. Medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, it’s elegantly textural and broad-shouldered, with lovely depth and a sapid finish. Along with the 2008, this is my favorite vintage of the decade chez Laurent-Perrier, and it’s drinking very well today. [28/02/2021]

Producer Profile

The Laurent-Perrier House was founded in 1812 by André Michel Pierlot. The name itself came from Emilie Perrier: after the death of her husband Eugène Laurent, she decided to rename the house Laurent-Perrier in their honour. The house was sold in 1939 by Emilie’s daughter Eugénie Hortense to Marie-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt. One of Louise’s sons, Bernard de Nonacourt, became Head of Production in 1948 after a 3-year apprenticeship.

Laurent-Perrier’s historic cellar is located in Tours-sur-Marne, in the Marne Valley. Laurent-Perrier is made using three different grapes: Chardonnay in Montagne de Reims, Pinot Noir in Côte des Blancs and Pinot Meunier in Vallée de Marne. Not all of these vineyards are owned by Laurent-Perrier, they purchase some grapes from trusted local growers.

Laurent-Perrier sells a range of champagnes: vintage, non-vintage, prestige cuvées or rosé champagnes.

Laurent-Perrier has embraced innovation and sustainability in its operations, using environmentally-friendly practices to reduce its carbon footprint and implementing sustainable vineyard management techniques.

Sold in over 120 countries, Laurent-Perrier is one of Champagne’s leading houses, producing 12 million bottles per year. It is the third most-sold champagne after Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot.
