Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 94
The 1999 Brut Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill, from magnum, is wonderfully rich and expansive, proving yet again just how well suited the big bottle is to Champagne. Smoke, peaches, mint and flowers are just some of the nuances that flow from this textured kaleidoscopic Champagne. The wine continues to gain focus and breadth through to the enticing, brilliant finish. Disgorged July, 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030.

Magnum. From a Farr Vintners private client. Tasted blind. Mid gold. Not a great deal of mousse. Cedary complex yeast aromas. Lightly honeyed but so fresh with lemon and orange citrus on the palate. Gentle mousse and relatively soft on the palate, plenty of red fruit and just a hint of tannin. Subtle and gentle with some bruised apple and gingerbread maturity. Really persistent with that Pinot fruit. Deep and long and spiced as it opens up. My guess: 1998 magnum. (JH)
