Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 90
A stunningly beautiful effort, the 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape offers a dense, saturated ruby color as well as a gorgeous nose of cedar, spice box, cherries, kirsch liqueur, and pepper. Expansive, full-bodied, lush, and seductive/sexy, this voluptuously-textured, long Chateauneuf reveals a seamlessness typical of the vintage’s finest efforts. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Anticipated maturity: 2001-2016
Vinous 85-87
Bright medium ruby. Briary, slightly medicinal aromas of menthol and gingerbread. Rather rustic flavors of cooked dark berries; strong suggestion of stems. Old-styled Chateauneuf.
