Domaine Clos de Rougeard is a revered winery located in the Loire Valley of France. It is renowned for its exceptional Cabernet Franc wines, particularly from the Saumur-Champigny appellation. Domaine Clos de Rougeard was established by the Foucault family in the 1960s. The estate is currently managed by the Foucault brothers, Nady and Charly.
Its 10 hectares of vineyards are located in the Saumur-Champigny appellation within the Loire Valley, where it owns several parcels, including the iconic Le Bourg vineyard. Clos de Rougeard specializes in the cultivation of Cabernet Franc, a red grape variety that thrives in the Loire Valley. Domaine Clos de Rougeard is committed to organic and biodynamic farming practices, so its winemaking approach at emphasises minimal intervention. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in wooden vats, and ageing occurs in oak barrels.
Domaine Clos de Rougeard has a limited production, with a focus on quality over quantity. The wines are highly sought after, and availability can be scarce. This exclusivity, combined with the estate’s reputation, contributes to the wines’ desirability among wine enthusiasts and collectors.
