Now run by Sabine Mollard, grand-daughter of Marc Morey, this domaine is on a fantastic run, as evidenced by a quite brilliant range of 2017s. Sabine is a well-deserved winner of the Burgundy prize ‘Trophie Jeunes Talents’ and has attracted the admiration of local superstars the Ramonet family, who treat her as their equal. It’s easy to see why: she shares a similar outlook to other young stars, yet has taken care to plant a foot firmly in the camp of old heads such as Henri Boillot. Adopting a lutte raisonee philosophy, there is, consequently, no overarching dogmatism to Sabine's year-by-year approach. Like Jean-Marc Roulot, she picks early, but never too early, and it has clearly paid off: Domaine Marc Morey’s wines are fragrant and stylish, whatever the level, each showing a subtle mineral-salt edged élan, lifting the palate and imparting exquisite resonance. The 2017s are a new highwater mark --an absolute joy.
