Henri Boillot owns and manages this domaine with his son Guillaume, and describes his 2017s as ‘pure, fresh and energetic’. We wholeheartedly agree. Henri has been responsible for the greatest range of white wines in the entire Burgundy region in the last few years. Indeed, six of the top 11 in 2015 and a staggering four out of the top five wines in 2016 (for the entire vintage, as reviewed by Allen Meadows) were made by Henri Boillot. The domaine’s use of larger oak, its practice of retaining carbonic gas ‘en cuve’, and Henri’s accumulated years of experience have all served to produce a magnificent set of wines, which continue to develop apace. They are, in our humble opinion, amongst the finest dry white wines on planet earth, and if you don’t believe us, Stephen Tanzer - not a critic prone to hyperbole - gave the 2017s monster scores. Sublime and thrilling, these are wines made to make the heart soar.
