The Morey Family is an old family in Chassagne-Montrachet. Thomas’s ancestor Claude arrived in the region in 1643 and started making wine. Thomas himself worked with his grandfather and his father in the family domain until 2006, when he decided to start his own domain with his wife. He started with 9 hectares mainly in Chassagne but also in Beaune, Puligny, Santenay, and Saint-Aubin and he now owns 13 hectares of vines.

He has stayed true to the winemaking techniques of his grandfather in his domain: avoiding herbicides, pesticides, and artificial fertilisers. He has an old-school approach to winemaking. The red wines are aged in oaks barrels for only 9 months, then bottled, while white wines are fermented and aged for at least 12 months.

Domaine Thomas Morey is a very recent domain but he is already renowned in Burgundy and abroad due to their export activity to Australia and Asia.
