Hakushu

Hakushu Distillery, located in the Japanese Alps near Mount Kaikomagatake, was founded in 1973 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory. Known as the “Forest Distillery,” Hakushu is celebrated for its pristine environment and commitment to producing high-quality single malt whisky. The distillery benefits from a unique natural water source, drawn from the lush forest surrounding it, which contributes to the smoothness and complexity of its whiskies.

Hakushu’s signature expressions, such as the Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve and Hakushu 12 Year Old, are characterised by a fresh, vibrant profile, featuring notes of green apple, mint, and herbal undertones, complemented by a subtle smokiness. The use of a variety of cask types, including American oak and sherry casks, allows for a diverse range of flavours and aromas that appeal to whisky enthusiasts.
