This estate was established in the early 19th century by Jules Lafon and later inherited by his great-grandson, Comte Dominique Lafon, who is credited with elevating the domain’s reputation to its current status. Domaine des Comtes Lafon owns vineyards in some of Burgundy’s most esteemed appellations, including Meursault, Volnay, Monthélie, and Montrachet. The estate owns over 15 hectares of vineyards and is primarily dedicated to producing white wines.

The domain follows traditional winemaking practices with a strong emphasis on organic and biodynamic viticulture. They use sustainable practices and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. Although Domaine des Comtes Lafon is primarily known for its white wines, it also produces exceptional red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes, which display finesse and purity. Volnay and Monthélie are the main appellations for their red wine production.

Their flagship wine is the Meursault Charmes Premier Cru, but their notable white wines include Meursault Clos de la Barre, Meursault Genevrières, and the legendary Montrachet Grand Cru.
