Château Branaire-Ducru, a 4ème Cru Classé winery in the Saint-Julien appellation is also the name of the main red wine it produces. Spread over 60 hectares throughout St-Julien, the château is just across from Château Beychevelle.

Previous owner Patrick Maroteaux, who served as president of both the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux and the St Julien appellation, passed away in 2017 and his son François-Xavier continues to serve his father’s legacy, including using top Left Bank estate consultant Eric Boissenot.

Château Branaire’s legacy also lives through popular culture in Roald Dahl’s story “Taste”!

The château produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, benefitting from vines aged 35 years and harvested by hand.

Branaire-Ducru produces the most lifted, elegant wines of the St Julien appellation – finesse leads the way over power here, but the wines retain great ageing potential.
