‘Brilliant’
Jane Anson

‘Endless aftertaste’
Aldo Fiordelli

Earlier this month saw a slew of releases of top wines from across planet earth including Opus One and Penfolds Grange.  However, chief among the European releases, no doubt, is the extraordinary Masseto, the Bolgheri wine revered by the worlds greatest wine collectors.

Just like those two incredible Pomerols Le Pin and Petrus, Masseto showcases the magical effect of blue clay on 100% Merlot in the most succulent and svelte manner. Masseto is one of the greatest red wines in the world, displaying its spectacular, ancient terroir overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, in every sip. There is a lush, rich silky texture here in tandem with the tension and complexity of a truly great wine.  The effect is one of multidimensional layers of flavour and nuance that reveal themselves with every swirl of the glass.

2023 was a fine and superbly balanced vintage across Bolgheri – we were very impressed in our own tastings. However, frankly, there’s little to compare with the captivating glory of Masseto. A wine of unerring elegance, its opulence and glamour and rarity  makes it worth the price of admission! As the note from Jane Anson above states quite simply – ‘Brilliant’.

We have obtained a further allocation and can offer this iconic cuvee to clients on a first come first served basis.

*For those who wish to dabble we can also offer a limited quantity of their fine second wine 2024 Massetino – another wine described as possessing ‘brilliant quality depth and intensity’  by Jane Anson.

Best wishes,

Brunswick Team.

‘Bottled in the first week of December 2025, the 2023 Masseto is deeply expressive and layered, with aromas of wet stone, mint, vanilla, and petrichor, alongside a striking sense of chalky minerality. As it opens, notes of lavender oil, juniper, rosemary, and Amarena cherry coated in dark chocolate emerge with remarkable clarity. Full-bodied, it delivers power without weight, combining opulence with restraint. The tannins are finely structured, the acidity vibrant, and the length profound. This is a vintage built on precision and energy, with a structure that will reward patience over the long term. Drink 2028-2050.’

‘Intense, dark and meaty style with vibrant elegance of balsamic whiffs, clove and slight florals, with a mix of plums and cassis and graphite minerality in depth. The attack is impressive for its suppleness and silky texture, with elegant tannins, graceful brilliant acidity and toasty flavors of cocoa-milk, sweet tobacco and fruits. Endless aftertaste. Best after two-three years but drinkable now as well.’
