American whiskey has surged in popularity in recent years, with demand growing exponentially. While some of this trend may be attributed to fashion, at Brunswick, we firmly believe it is primarily due to the world-class production values and techniques that U.S. distillers employ.
These exceptional whiskeys are often categorized by their unique flavour profiles of toastiness, spice, and vanilla sweetness. This distinctiveness is mainly attributed to the exclusive use of new charred barrels, a process that is fundamental not only to bourbon but also to other whiskey styles.
Rye whiskey, made with a mash bill that features a significant proportion of rye grain, tends to produce a more complex and spicy style. Some great examples of rye include Sazerac Rye Whiskey and the highly sought-after Pappy Van Winkle’s Rye, both of which showcase the rich heritage of American distilling.
Tennessee whiskeys are essentially bourbons that undergo the “Lincoln County Process,” a method developed by Jack Daniel’s. This process involves filtering the spirit through sugar maple charcoal, resulting in a smoother finish and unique flavour.
As we continue to see this growth, it’s evident that American whiskey is not just a passing trend; it reflects the skill and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle.
