The 2021 Barolos are finessed, elegant wines that will delight Piedmont fans… Two thousand twenty-one is a superb vintage for Barolo…At the very pinnacle of excellence, the finest 2021s are compelling and profoundly expressive of place. They are richer than the generally austere 2019s but more vibrant than the open-knit 2020s, making 2021 the most harmonious and consistent of the group.

The 2021 vintage of Barolo (to be released now) and Barbaresco (with many wines on the market and more in the pipeline) is one for collectors. This excellent vintage has the fruit intensity, acidity and tannic structure to withstand long cellar aging. The wines offer beautiful elegance and complexity today and promising evolution for tomorrow. The 2021 vintage can be grouped with 2001, 2010 and 2016 as one of the best since the start of the new millennium.

The 2021 vintage in Barolo is shaping up to be one of remarkable structure, purity, and aging potential. Following a cooler yet balanced growing season, Nebbiolo grapes in the Langhe region developed with precision—showcasing vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and a deep core of fruit.
Unlike the warmer 2020 vintage, 2021 benefited from a long ripening period, preserving the signature elegance of Barolo while enhancing its complexity. While already showing impressive depth, these wines will reward patience, evolving beautifully over the coming decades.
